If you need to replace your auto glass, follow these 13 steps to ensure a safe and effective installation:
1. Inspect the vehicle prior to installation.
2. Take care to avoid damage and maintain cleanliness during the process.
3. Remove moldings, clips, windshield wipers, cowling, and other necessary parts.
4. Use the full cut-out method and remove old adhesive to approximately 1/16" thickness as specified by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM).
5. Use the appropriate high-performance urethane adhesive that meets your car manufacturer's specifications and safe drive-away time requirements.
6. Install a windshield that meets or exceeds your car manufacturer's OEM specifications.
7. Install moldings, clips, windshield wipers, cowling, and other necessary parts, replacing them with new parts where required.
8. Test the wipers to ensure they are properly positioned.
9. Test all connections affected by the installation, such as the washer hose, antenna, and heating elements.
10. Vacuum the glass and debris from the vehicle.
11. Perform a final vehicle inspection, including cleaning of the glass.
12. Review the safe drive-away time recommendation based on the type of urethane applied.
13. Review the warranty and care instructions.
